All Work & No Play--

First off, a special notice. When we ran Roll Roll Cotton Boll last November, I said I would keep it available until June 1st. It's now almost August, and I've still left it there. However, it's time for it to come down, so if you need to make copies, do it now! It's coming down tomorrow, August 1st, and will be unvailable until it is featured in my next book due out in 2012. I’ve been sewing like a crazy woman all day! And I’m making good progress on some things that have sat at a standstill for a while…It’s HOT HOT HOT and muggy outside, so it feels so good to be in! However, my feet aren’t happy – that old ugly plantar fasciitis is rearing it’s ugly head again, and even though it’s 90+ out, I’m having to put my running shoes with orthodics in them ON MY FEET first

From Storm Lake back to Des Moines!

We left Storm Lake after the Saturday workshop ended…and drove the 3 hours back to Des Moines! I napped a bit, until I heard the ladies in the front talking about the beautiful old homes in Sac City…..I opened my eyes and saw GORGEOUS Victorian creations complete with the gingerbread and porches. I love old houses! The picture you see to the left? that blurry one? That is the “out the window”

I made it home last evening with only an extra hour spent in Chicago. YAY!! I’d consider that “pretty much” on time as far as delays go. I just stitched hexagons all the way home…making progress on my filling in around the medallion. More pics of that to come later!((Note to self -- Cut more NEUTRALS out before next road trip!!)) It’s been a busy busy travel day, but I’m happy to say there have been ALMOST no hiccups! I left Greensboro around 11:30am --- I even saw Horace at his shoe shine booth and he said thanks for the post card, that it made his day. That really set my day off with a smile! The plane was actually early getting into Chicago O’Hare, and it was a beautiful day to fly over lake Michigan --- I love that

This morning I’m off on a journey to Storm Lake,Iowa! I’m Spending a few HOT July Days with the Iowa Quilter’s Guild and we plan to stay OUT of the heat, stay in and SEW! We’ve got a Pineapple Blossom Workshop on Friday, a lecture and trunkshow on Friday night, and a My Blue Heaven workshop on Saturday. Cheddar Bow-Ties!! 2011 Leader/Ender Challenge!

Every year there is at least ONE quilt that we ALL fall in love with. This year it was a bowtie using a cheddar solid as a background. Do I have to remind you of how much I love solid cheddar? When I look at antique quilts, those with solid cheddar in them are the ones that jump out at me and straight into my heart. Just a “LITTLE” Walk!

By the time this posts, I will be well on my way to the airport on my way to Oregon! It’s going to be a long day. You just can’t get to Redmond/Bend Oregon easily from Greensboro, NC! My route? Greensboro to Chicago, Chicago to Portland, Portland to Redmond! I’ll get there around 3:45pm local time, which is 6:45 NC time! And it always takes me a couple days to adjust to a 3-hour time difference!
