Old Stuttgart!

Posted on 14:33 by Unknown
I wanted to post some pictures of the oldest area of Stuttgart! Very close winding streets, with trees trying to bud out into spring, but it is a bit early yet here. After teaching yesterday at Nadel und Faden, we walked through the area to look at the old buildings! There are also sculptures and carvings and I wish I had more time to take it all in! Here I am sitting on a statue in the corner of

A little bit of spring!

Posted on 02:25 by Unknown
On Tuesday, Aby and I went to visit downtown Stuttgart….including a little walk about through the market place….we barely made it in time, as this was the cold cold day, and the market was folding up by 1pm… But there was a little bit of hope for spring everywhere….especially in the array of potted and blooming bulbs that were on display! You’d never know it was freezing outside by the look of

Have you ever walked into a restaurant or public building and thought to yourself that the tiles would sure make a gorgeous quilt pattern!? You “KNOW” that I have…I’ve posted pics from my travels of tile floors, tile table tops, tile counters…even tiles found in a Taco Bell Bathroom that would make a great border design! I’ve taken pictures of tile designs all across The Netherlands, and Paris,

So many picutres, so little time!

Posted on 13:05 by Unknown
It’s well after 10pm here in Germany as I write this, after a very very full day! We started the morning out with a visit to Birgit’s quilt shop, followed by a stop at an antique store for some browsing, and yes I found some goodies! ((And took lots of pictures)) and then to the bakery for some lunch items and goodies ((and yes I took more pictures!)) And then we were off to Ludwigsburg to visit

Quilt Show Wednesday!

Posted on 06:00 by Unknown
I was emailing back and forth with my editor Jenifer talking about different book things! One of the things we were talking about was the “Directions At A Glance”, a brilliant idea she had for Scraps & Shirttails II that turned out JUST super… Here is what the directions at a glance look like: Those of us who have been quilting a while, don’t need all the wordy descriptions, but a

Erster Tag in Stuttgart

Posted on 15:20 by Unknown
Our very first day and we filled it to the brim! The temps are just below freezing during the day, but the sun was trying hard to make itself known and be seen and the sky was mostly blue which just brightens everything up so much! This was the view from my seat in Aby’s car!  We drove to the train station and parked, and took the train into Stuttgart to do a bit of exploring. It’s a very nice

Virginia Bound Workshop in Denton, TX!

Posted on 07:48 by Unknown
I tell you what, I have had some workshops in some mighty interesting places lately! The Denton Quilt Guild meets for their workshops in a firehouse conference room! And when you walk in, you are greeted by a wonderful museum of collected artifacts going back into the 1800s……interesting items to look at, newspaper articles to read about earlier fires, and sadly the memorials of those firefighters

Luckily this traffic was headed in the opposite direction, FROM Ft Worth toward Dallas, and we were headed the other way, from Keller to Ft Worth! I spent yesterday enjoying an Oklahoma Backroads workshop with the Trinity Valley Quilt Guild in Ft Worth! What a fun group of ladies! This quilt is a GREAT one for cleaning out….((Am I

Today was the Cathedral Stars Workshop with the Bear Creek Quilt Guild in Keller, TX! We met in an annex building to the church where the guild holds it’s guild meetings, a place called Hallelujah House. The house has several large rooms that have been used for meeting areas and class rooms and we filled 3 of the rooms and put them to good use! My pictures left a LOT to be desired today…I

Hello From Dallas!

Posted on 20:34 by Unknown
It’s been a crazy couple of days! First off….POOR OSCAR! Yes, this cat just can’t keep himself out of harms way! Remember a couple weeks ago when I said his tail was hanging funny and it looked like he had been in a scuffle with a cat from the wrong-side-of-the-tracks?! It had seemed like it was doing better, but when I got back from Virginia, he seemed especially sensitive and guarding of

Off To Texas!

Last night while I was packing and getting ready, I downloaded another freebie book to my Kindle!  It’s called Bridge To Happiness, by Jill Barnett and it sounds like a good one! Here is the description: From the luxury of San Francisco's famous hills to the wild freedom of the majestic snow-covered Sierra Mountains, BRIDGE TO HAPPINESS is the intensely dramatic story of one woman's life, the

Scrappy Mountains in the Blue Ridge!

It was a terrific day for a workshop! We set up our machines and power sewed the day away making Scrappy Mountain Majesties blocks! A bit of Lexington!

Posted on 19:18 by Unknown
I had a LOVELY LOVELY drive up today! It was a cold clear morning, but the sky was the most amazing shade of crystalline blue, and nary a cloud in sight. Just BRILLIANT! I live about 100 miles South of Roanoke, VA, an easy jaunt up highway 220 with scenic highways and byways…….Within an hour of leaving my driveway, I have crossed the Virginia state line, and I’m in heaven! From Trash—to Treasure—for Trash!

Posted on 05:17 by Unknown
I love goodies! Especially quilt-related-recycled-item goodies! While teaching at the Road to California Quilt show last month, I was the happy recipient of a re-purposed trash holder made from an empty square kleenex box! Oh, it was the cutest thing!! And truth be told, I don’t think she intended to gift it to me, just that I kept fawning over it and making puppy dog faces about how CUTE it was,

Little Monkey!

I received several emails and facebook friend page requests to put my instructions for the Monkey Wrench blocks from Little Monkey here! So I thought, why not? It is a fun traditional block and works so well with the sizes of scrap strips I already keep on hand, and that is what made it so enjoyable to dig and play with these, coming up with the craziest fabric and color combos that I could find!
