It’s my LAST night on this long trip. I’ve been in Louisiana since LAST Monday…..and tomorrow I fly home! It was two weeks ago yesterday ((Sunday)) That I left North Carolina for San Diego and the Road to California Quilt Show in Ontario! Here is a pic of me that Liz took in California while holding a border section of my hexie project… I feel like it has been SIX weeks, but at the same time it

My Blue Bayou!
Posted on 19:25 by Unknown
Or that would be My Blue Heaven if you were taking the workshop any where outside of Louisiana! But it wasn’t just Louisiana, we had a trio from Mississippi join us. They drove 2.5 hours in rain and drizzle to come play! And it was so terrific to see them here. What a fun group! Quilters by nature are such givers, and I was gifted with some yummies in the form of a delightful bag made by “another
It’s About Relationships!
Posted on 09:12 by Unknown
I’ve often said that Quilting isn’t just a hobby, it’s a lifestyle…. And as I sit here in my hotel room on Sunday morning ((I’ve got an hour before being picked up for an afternoon My Blue Heaven Workshop with the Day Dreamers Guild of Prairieville, LA!)) I’m just pondering on the many different relationships that haved been blessed, strengthened and enjoyed by this lifestyle we share. This is a

Lafayette, Round 2!
Posted on 20:47 by Unknown
I’m back in Lafayette for a Saturday Texas Braid workshop! I may be being passed around like a football, but as long as there is no field goal kicking, no fumble, no foul, it’s all good! I just returned from the dress rehearsal for tomorrow’s Mardi Gras Ball for the Crewe of Victoria. I had the best time being dressed up with more beads, more bling, more bracelets, and a whole goodie bag of fun

Baton Rouge Bonanza!
Posted on 20:08 by Unknown
Food and Quilts and Quilts and Food, is there anything else better to keep me busy? It’s a constant battle to fight re-gaining the 30+ lbs I have lost in the past two years right back, and yet at the same time I know that food—GOOD food—not junk food—is one of life’s greatest pleasures! I’ve thought a lot about it. Why do we struggle so much with this issue? Where is the balance between living
Laffin it up in Lafayette!

Don't you love this shirt slogan? One of the quilters came walking in with this and it just cracked me up! It is the story of my life -- I couldn't resist taking a picture, but how do you ask some one "Do you mind standing still so I can get a picture of your chest?" I did it anyway!Yesterday’s Texas Braid Workshop in Lafayette was just a ball! I love the regional differences of teaching in

Just A Quickie!
Posted on 04:31 by Unknown
I got beaded and tiara’d and served king cake! ((And no, I did NOT flash anything!)) Today I met with the Quilters Acadienne in Lafayette, Louisiana and boy what a fun group! They have a morning guild, and a night guild, and we did a double whammy and did a trunk show for both groups. The show and tell was AWESOME! I especially loved all the hand pieced quilts one of the quilters showed --- her

Texas Braid Workshop, Road To California Day 4!
Posted on 11:54 by Unknown
Oh gosh! now I’m even 2 days behind….but I guess that leaves more to look forward to, right?! First off, before the class pictures, I have to thank the San Diego Contingency, for having this BEAUTIFUL cake waiting for me when I entered my classroom on Friday! Yes world, I somehow woke up and found myself 49!!! Now lots of you might think I’m still a baby, but since my kids think 50 is “officially

Blue Ridge Beauty Workshop!
Posted on 20:43 by Unknown
Well, I completely lost Day 3……or more like, we filled it so full that there was no time to write the post until NOW, which pushes everything a day late! We filled the evening up with class, and then had to go from the Convention Center to the Double Tree next door to set up for “Roundabout!” I felt like I was on a merry-go-round that kept spinning faster and faster – People go around in groups

Road to California, Day 1!
Posted on 19:05 by Unknown
I know it is day 2 or 3 for some of the long arm teachers—they started on Monday in many cases! But today was the first day for me and it is oh so exciting! Today’s workshop was Sister’s Choice……and I really really love this beginner-intermediate class! My room came furnished with brand new fancy brother machines, and I had a brother rep, Coleen with me the whole day showing us how to set it for
Hello, Ontario!

It’s not quite 6am here, but this is what happens when I pass out about 8:45pm last night after several nights of go go go! I woke up at 4am, and couldn’t go back to sleep. I’m just thinking about the show this week, the full schedule, the classes, the fun --yes of course the fun…the vendors mall, the quilts at the show, and friends that I’ll be seeing! My friend Mickey arrived yesterday

A Quick Hello!
Posted on 06:42 by Unknown
First off! I just got a notice in my email that Word Play Quilts has FINALLY Shipped from Checker! The books will be waiting for me when I return from this trip on Feb 1st and I'll start mailing. It wasn't ME that delayed the shipment, I have no control over how long it took Checker to get them in stock and ship them to me. And I can't fill orders when I'm out of town. So I apologize for any

Sweet Dreams!
Posted on 19:11 by Unknown
I’m off in the morning! At least it isn’t one of those dreaded 6am flights where I have to be at the airport at 4:30am. Greensboro isn’t that big, but it gets me where I need to go and it is close! It also helps to be on first name basis with several of the ticket counter employees! “It’s the Quilt Lady” one of them says to the other, and instructs the NEW employee on what I need, what is in the
What’s in YOUR Carry-on!?
Posted on 06:30 by Unknown
I did just what I said I’d do yesterday! I focused on SEWING and I have blocks sewn into rows, and rows ready to assemble into a top! YAY! It felt great. I’ll be working on that more today.
I’ve enjoyed some evening stitching the past few nights, though Oscar decided that he’d had enough of me shooing him off my legs or lap every time I needed to readjust the quilt in the hoop, and found THIS

Blogging Addictions?
Posted on 06:02 by Unknown
Is there such a thing? I was following a link this morning and some how I ended up in a Blogging Addiction Quiz! Of course, I took the questions as a grain of salt, but it was humorous AND intriguing, and it has made me think! Not very often have I posted to my blog more than once a day, and usually I have something I want to share. First and foremost I think of my blog as my own journal. Back

Quilters for Queensland
Posted on 05:55 by Unknown
As the news unfolds and the days pass, we see with horror and broken hearts what our friends in Queensland, Australia are facing. It’s going to be a LONG road. I came across this pic of a man rescuing a boat load of kangaroos and my heart is filled with hope! ((However, I have to wonder exactly what is going on in the kangaroos heads and what they are saying to each other in their kangaroo-speak

From Lincoln, NE to Lincoln Square, Chicago!
Posted on 10:11 by Unknown
Let’s just say that from the past couple of days I’ve had --- That I have learned the value of friendship –AGAIN!! I do know that it is always risky to plan a flying ((or sometimes even DRIVING)) trip in Jan/Feb. It just is. Weather is always an intriguing game of Russian Roulette. Sometimes I luck out, sometimes…WHAMMO! But even through the whammo bits we experience some AMAZING things that we

With Love From Lincoln!
Posted on 07:01 by Unknown
What an adventure this has been! Things were in a bit of an upheaval because generally the guild has a rule --- If schools are closed due to weather, there will be no guild meeting. Well…I’ve flown all this way!! And everyone wanted to come to class, and they didn’t want to miss the trunk show! And you know, Quilters just come from hearty stock, so we made executive decisions and decided the show

.....And The Winners Are------
Posted on 18:25 by Unknown
Hello from Lincoln Nebraska! I arrived safe and sound this afternoon and was picked up at the airport by Rebecka and whisked off for my tour of the International Quilt Study Center & Museum! What a place! I only wish we could have spent more time, but they were closing early due to the incoming snow....and I'll just have to make another trip to catch MORE of it. If you have a chance to come to

Wontcha Let Me Take You On A -----

SEA CRUISE!! There is so much excitement building due to the fact that the cruise I am doing with Pat Sloan in NOVEMBER 2011 sold out SO FAST! I’ve been working with “Sew Many Places” to see what we could do to accommodate those who signed up too late and found themselves on a waiting list…. Would you believe it? Those who are on the waiting list are actually the LUCKY ones because they get to go

Show and Tell Thursday!
Posted on 06:31 by Unknown
Well, yesterday didn’t go as I planned! If you read the PS on yesterday’s post you’ll remember that I hopped in the car, put the key in the ignition, and…click click…rrrrrrrr…nada! It’s a good thing that DH works only 6 miles away (A big reason we bought this house, we wanted a close commute!) and was able to come jump-start the car. It drove fine for the rest of the day, but I got a bit of a

It’s Still Here!!
Posted on 06:14 by Unknown
I can’t tell you how many times during the day I had to pop back over here just to check if this new blog was still here! Yep! It is! It’s also a bright sunny NC January morning! And that means it’s an errand day for me. I’ve got to go meet Nane at the bagel shop and pick up some quilts that Karen and I have had on Display with our Bee in Yadkinville through the month of December! I get to be the

That Darn Cat!
Posted on 06:27 by Unknown
I guess “Boys Will Be Boys” no matter what the species! Night before last I noticed that Oscar was pretty much back to mimicking the activity of a door stop ---- Not eager to move too fast, and he yowled when we tried to pet anywhere near his tail! From there we noticed that he can not even LIFT his tail, and you know cats use their tail for balance and stuff, right? A cat that can not hold its

*Foot Loose!!*

Foot Loose is playing on the radio as I type this post! This is EXACTLY how I am feeling this morning, bopping here in my chair. This song just makes me want to get up and DANCE! The men folk have gone to their prospective jobs - - - Yes, The holidays are “officially” over and the house is mine for the day and I can get down to business! ((Once the song is over….pardon me while I go dance a bit

Fun in the Basement!
Posted on 06:29 by Unknown
Hello! Just me peeking in from the basement! DH and son have been SO engrossed in the football yesterday that I hid down here and finished a UFO top! YAY! Actually, it's one that was going to go in Scraps & Shirttails II, but we ran out of room and had to cut something, and this was the one that was not finished yet, so it became the target. But it's not a problem! I love this quilt.....and now
